H-1B visa will be awarded via a lottery system for the first time. USCIS has changed how it allocates employer-sponsored work visas, and there are major implications on who can apply this year. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is now using an electronic computer-generated selection process to determine which petitions get approved each year under certain conditions, instead of choosing by random number drawing or by order in which they were filed.

Applicants should pay close attention since these changes impact who may file an H-1B petition: If your company has received more than 15 H-1Bs before, you must use a new registration system called CAP beginning April 1st. Your cap number will come with the notification from USCIS that your H-1B was approved: It’s important to keep track of both your case number as well as your cap number because if you lose them, you might not know when to reapply next year! This includes petitioners whose cases have been denied. These individuals must wait until September 1, 2020 to file another H-1B petition unless their rejected petition was based upon an error by the government, in which case, they could ask for a reconsideration after two business days of receiving notice of rejection:

What are the impacts? According to USCIS data cited on Forbes, about half of all approved petitions came within the top five most popular occupations in recent years: IT professionals accounted for nearly 9 out of every 10 H-1B approvals between fiscal 2008 and 2019. In fact, just over three out of every four approvals went to IT workers: 67% for software developers; 64% for systems analysts; 58% for network/computer systems administrators; and

A、有充足的职业经历(或计划);B、有一定的英语水平(建议六级以上英语考试的成绩单复印件C);
